The Foundation was established in 1999 to commemorate the founder of the A. Wilhelmsen group of companies, the late Mr Anders Wilhelmsen, and his wife Mrs Aslaug Wilhelmsen. The objects of the Foundation are to support socially beneficial work within research and education by providing financial assistance and awarding scholarships to enable foreign students to attend Norwegian universities and colleges, particularly within the fields of economics and management.
